Overview

Expert management of keloids and hypertrophic scars, abnormal scar tissue that extends beyond wound boundaries or remains raised and thick. We assess scar type, severity, and location. Treatment options include intralesional corticosteroid injections, cryotherapy, laser therapy, surgical revision, silicone gel sheeting, pressure garments, and topical treatments. Combination approaches often yield best results. We prevent keloid recurrence through post-treatment management including steroid injections at intervals, radiation therapy for high-risk lesions, and physical occlusion. Ethnic groups with higher keloid predisposition (darker skin types) receive additional preventive measures. Multiple sessions may be required. We provide realistic expectations and long-term follow-up.
